Programs

The Sunnyvale Farmers Market (SFM) has fun for the whole family every Saturday and includes the New Roots farm stand, local vendors, food trucks, free youth meals, family friendly activities thanks to Salt Lake County's Saturday's at Sunnyvale, music, and a food pantry distributing primarily unprocessed food staples. The market offers a discount to those customers who are eligible to receive EBT, SSI or WIC benefits as well as families with children enrolled in the National School Lunch Program and participants of FVrx.

Food Pantry

The SFM Operates a food pantry that distributes primarily unprocessed food staples starting at 12:30pm, while supplies last. The food pantry is operated in partnership with Bishop Store House. The SFM also proudly partners with The Green Urban Lunch Box to offer gleaned fruit at no cost, throughout the summer.

Seamless Summer Program

Sunnyvale Park is used by the Granite School District as one of many sites hosting a Summer Meals Program (SMP). The SMP is designed to bridge the hunger gap faced by the many children who go underfed during the summer months when they don’t have access to their school’s lunch program. In 2017, the SFM extended Granite's Summer Meals effort by implementing a Saturday meals program to serve kids during the school year.

  • Lunch starts at 11:00 am
  • Available to children under 18
  • Bridge the hunger gap faced by children when they don’t have access to their school’s lunch program
  • All households with children participating in Reduced Fee Lunch Program are eligible for Cash Match

Family Friendly Activities

Make a day of it and stay for fun activities after you make your purchases. Kid's activities are hosted by Salt Lake County and Sunnyvale Neighborhood Center.

The Fresh Fund and FVrx

The market offers a discount to those customers who are eligible to receive EBT, SSI or WIC benefits as well as families with children enrolled in the National School Lunch Program and participants of FVrx.

The Sunnyvale Farmers Market offers The Fresh Fund; a 1-to-1 incentive match to customers eligible to receive EBT/SNAP, WIC, SSI or those whose children are enrolled in the National School Lunch Program. The program, known as The Fresh Fund, works like this:  Customers provide proof they are eligible (add link to FAQ) for one of the previously mentioned programs (EBT card, SSI stub, WIC voucher) and the SFM will provide an extra $10 that can be used to purchase additional fruits and vegetables. Ex: A customer spends $10 at the market and they receive an additional $10 for free, in the form of tokens, that can be spent at the market, for a total of $20 in purchasing power!

The Fresh Fund is made possible by a USDA’s Food Insecurity and Nutrition Incentive grant program. Find out more about the program here.

Arrive a few minutes early and head to the The Fresh Fund/Cash Match/ FVrx booth to register and receive your tokens and fill your Fruit and Vegetable Prescriptions.
